Order Forms and Shipping Tips - Details
We've provided you with a downloadable PDF version of our order form
here at our web site (see top of page). When we ship your first order back to you we'll enclose
a regular paper order form for your convenience.
When shipping 35mm film to us, we recommend that you put the film back into the plastic
can the film is sold in, tape the can shut, and ship it in a box or
a padded envelope. There is no need to embalm the film can like an Egyptian mummy in tape.
One piece will do just fine. The idea is to just make sure the lid doesn't pop off in shipping
so the plastic tub can protect the film canister. For medium format film, we recommend shipping the film in a box.
Many customers like to recyle the boxes that we used to ship orders to them in by shiping film and negs
back to us in the used boxes.
Open the box carefully at one end, and be sure to tape it shut after you package your return order to us. When
shipping negatives, re-enforce your mailer or shipping envelope
with cardboard. Do not ship negs in tight-fitting plastic sleeving due to the
high risk of shipping damage this kind of sleeving can cause.
To provide maximum protection to outbound orders, all contents of your shipment
are sealed into zippered plastic bags for water proofing. We recommend that you
save these bags and re-use them when you ship orders to us, to provide additional
protection to your film and negs.
Many wedding shooters like to send film and negs from weddings in two shipments
several days apart as a form of cheap insurance against possible loss in shipping.
By the way, this has never actually happened, but some folks like to worry....
We call this "split shipping" and we are happy to accomodate it. So long as the
photographer pays two shipping and handling fees, the two portions of the return
order will also ship back to the studio separately.
Other shooters like to piggy-back several orders into one shipment to save on
shipping costs. We are also happy to accomodate this; however we will not keep
prints or rolls separated unless you pay shipping and handling for each order.
If you use bulk-load canisters, it is imperative that you send them in a taped-shut
plastic film tub as bulk-loads will almost always pop open in shipment if sent
loose. Sorry, we cannot return bulk-load canisters.
For those worried about the United States Post Office irradiaiton program:
We have not seen any damanged film since the post office began irradiation of mail
in the fall of 2001. However, customers who are concerned about the risk of x-ray
damage should send their orders by either United Parcel Service (UPS) or FedEx.
